On Camera
I watch the video with a heavy heart.
No one speaks up, as the man is beaten.
No one steps in, as the man is abused.
No one defends him, although he is defenseless.
I watch the video with a heavy heart.
I hear the man’s sobs.
I see fresh blood staining his skin.
I feel the hatred radiating from the officer.
I watch the video with a heavy heart.
Why does nobody stop the violence?
Why does nobody defend this man?
Why does everybody pull out their phone to record?
I watch the video with a heavy heart.
What should I think of a society who bullies the weak?
What should I think of a world that so freely hates?
What should I do to be the voice of opposition against such cruelty?
I watch the video with a heavy heart.
Why could I not have been there to save him?
