His smile drew me in, long before he drew close.
It was the kind of smile that brightened the room and pulled everyone’s attention.
There was a beauty to him, as well, but it was the way he moved that piqued my interest. He was dancing as he approached, bobbing and weaving through the crowd, who all had become mesmerized like me. I watched in amazement, wishing my own body moved so smoothly.
He was what others would call “happy-go-lucky”. A free spirit, radiating positivity.
“Evening.” His voice chimed and I smiled and ducked my head, knowing another to avoid had appeared.
His smile grew and I felt my breathe catch at his overwhelming presence.
“You have a lovely smile.” I muttered, unintentionally, before cursing my eagerness to hear him ask me to dance.
He laughed knowingly and I pouted slightly. “I’m sure you hear that a lot.”
I nodded and looked away for a moment, awaiting his next move. Suddenly, realization struck and I smiled back to him. “I didn’t catch your name.”
He extended his hand. “I’m your hope. You’re my hope. I’m J…”
He and I both jumped in shock as the hand appeared on his shoulder.
“Sorry… but… you’re taking too long.”
